Kero - guaranteed sustainable

For us at Kero, sustainability is a matter of course, but maybe it isn’t that obvious to our customers that we sell sustainable products? To clarify our sustainability, we have developed a badge.

To think one step further and consume sustainably is becoming more and more important for humans.

Sometimes it may be tricky as a consumer to know if you consume sustainable or not. In that case it could be beneficial with a sustainable marking. On this page you can read how we work with sustainability.

The concept that stood through decades

85 years, it is longer than a lifetime for many. It’s now been 85 years old since Yrjö Kero started our business. Decades after decades we’ve kept on track. We’ve sewn beak shoes that walked around the world. From high mountain peaks to downtown New York City, and even worn by the King of Tonga. By following the development without sacrificing our characteristic crafts, we have succeeded in creating a sustainable "made in Sweden" concept. From the beginning the beak shoe trudged in mire, now it’s wandering everywhere.

Kero's 85 years of experience guarantee quality

The longer we live the more opportunities we get to collect knowledge and experience. We have tanned leather and sewn and sold leather products in 85 years. We know our cause. By so well mistakes and progress over the years we have learned how we create qualitySustainable quality for us are products that hold year in and year out. A couple beak shoes or a vintage bag is never considered to be the season's throwaway, it’s a friend for life.

Natural since 1929

We tan our leather in a natural way, which means that the skin is handled with substances from the nature. It is the most environment-friendly tanning method. In addition to reduced environmental impact, it also gives a user-friendly leather that allows the skin to breathe.

Clean leather from our Scandinavian reindeers

Are you trying to buy more locally? Is it perhaps to a greater extent at the supermarket than at other consumption? At Kero, we have Scandinavian leather. The reindeer wander freely between Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia. The tanning of the leather then takes place here in our tannery in Sattajärvi. That way there there is no long transports and the leather is handled entirely under Swedish law. It is a sustainable process for both staff, consumer and nature.
